Marty is a Vietnam Era Veteran, who attended Basic and Advanced
Infantry training at Fort Polk, LA in 1971.
Completing 21 years of service in
the Active Guard program as the operations Sergeant Major for recruiting in the
Illinois Army National Guard, Marty retired in January 1996 after a 26 year
career.
Marty is a 28 year member of Lincoln Post 102 in Deland, Illinois.
In 1996, Post 102
awarded Marty a Life Membership for service to the Post

Currently Marty is employed by Worden-
Martin Auto group. This position allows him the flexibility to pursue the Office
of National Commander of The American Legion.
Marty was the first Department Membership Director for Department of
Illinois. As Membership Director he developed training programs, and Award
programs for all levels of leadership.
Serving as Recruiter, NCOIC and Operations Sergeant Major helped develop his
instructing and speaking skills.

Marty and his wife, Sharon, live in Champaign,
Illinois. They are the proud parents of three sons, Richard, Rick & Bryan and
grandparents of Kayla (14) and Tanner (3) and Addison (6mo).
The Conatsers are a strong Legion Family. Son, Rick is a Legionnaire by his
own service in the United States Army. Sons, Richard and Bryan and grandson
Tanner, are members of the Sons of The American Legion.
Mother, Ruth Conatser,
daughters-in-law, Patsy and Michelle and granddaughters Kayla and Addison, are members
of The American Legion Auxiliary. Father-in-law, Clayborn Lofton, is a Past
Illinois State Commander and Mother-in-law, Irene Lofton is a Past Illinois
State President of The American Legion Auxiliary.
Sharon recently served as
the Illinois Auxiliary State President and is active at the National level.
